RESEARCH
I am an organic chemist. I have several research projects that
undergraduates can work on. I have a collaboration
with Prof. Robert Gawley at the University
of Arkansas. We are developing a
new method for sensing very small quantities of toxins in seafood. Another
project I have is the synthesis of new organic materials for high tech
applications. Many current technologies that use semiconductor and metallic
parts may be made better, faster, lighter and cheaper by using organic
materials. I have a collaboration with Dr. Arrigo in
the UCA Math department in which we are modeling the way that polymers form in
solution. Organic synthesis of well defined polymers, both synthetic and
biomimetic, is the central theme that ties of my work together.
